Effect of size and additives on the decomposition process and nutrient content of urban organic waste compost

Abstract To participate in overcoming the problem of 500 tons organic waste per day Makassar City, 2017-2019 Environment and Forestry Research Development Institute Macassar conducted research activities to develop community-based management models for pollution control urban farming development. One is making compost from litter using a shredding machine speed up decomposition process, mixing household rich N, P, K micro nutrients increase nutrient content compost. Observations showed that mincing process significantly accelerated process. Furthermore, addition nutrient-rich material into has increased which higher than SNI standard, thereby increasing competitive value against factory-made chemical fertilizers. These two have an impact on public interest managing reduce while developing farming.
